Great Wall Trek

I so appreciated to spend those days close to the Wall and not just to “fly in” for one day. This enables me to get a bit of a “feel” for the country. To be with the Chinese crew also was a privilege I won’t forget. Our tour guide gave us valuable insights. I am thankful that I could be part of this challenge, it was worth it.

China Silk Road

The Silk Road conjures images of camel caravans transporting an incredible wealth of goods across the deserts and mountains - images of colourful bazaars, priceless jewels, richly woven carpets and fabrics and exotic perfumes and spices. This remarkable journey takes you along the Chinese part of this ancient route. In Beijing we visit the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City before travelling to Xian to view the impressive Terracotta Warriors. In Xiahe we visit the enormous Buddhist monastery of Labrang, the largest outside of the Potala Palace in Lhasa, which will surely impress. In Dunhuang we appreciate the magnificent Buddhist grottos of Magao, before skirting the Gobi Desert to the oasis town of Turpan. From Urumqi we explore the exquisite Heavenly Lake before flying on to the frenetic and unique market town of Kashgar, where our journey concludes. This is an inspiring journey of cultural contrasts.
