Andes Adventure

I had an amazing trip! A once in a lifetime experience, and memories I will cherish forever ... the entire experience from booking to trekking was exceptional, I couldn't expect higher standards.

Ausangate Eco Lodge Trek

A mountain with great significance in Incan mythology, Apu Ausangate (6,384m) is part of the Cordillera Vilcanota range in the Peruvian Andes. This region is home to llama and alpaca herding communities who use the high mountain trails to herd and trade their stock. One of these trails the 'Camino Del Apu Ausangate' (Road of the Apu Ausangate) has become a renowned trek in Peru for its remoteness and as an unspoilt high mountain paradise. This demanding high trek is unique in that it offers access to pristine natural landscapes and views of the great sacred mountain combined with interactions with the local Quechua who are proud to share their land and culture. While on trek we stay in the comfort of eco-friendly Andean Lodges ('tambos'). Prior to our trek we spend a few days in the beautiful city of Cusco, where we acclimatise, before ascending to the higher altitude of Chillca (4368m), where we acclimatise further by taking a day walk to Yanacocha Lake. All of this acclimatisation lays the foundation for the next 4 days of trekking, as we reach 5,100 metres at the highest pass. We arrive into our community run eco lodge each evening to a wonderful Peruvian meal and the warm hospitality of our hosts.
