Antarctic Explorer

Just a belated thank you to World Expeditions for the wonderful trip to the Antarctic my sister and I joined last December. From the first day, it was agreed that 1 day on a plane and 2 1/2 days on a ship was a small price to pay to have the chance to enjoy such an amazing experience. The ship was comfortable and crewed by an excellent staff; the size of the vessel was perfect to allow maximum opportunity for the four dozen or so passengers to enjoy the experience (contrasted to many of the other vessels we saw in port in Ushuaia).
Furthermore, the guides provided were professional, knowledgeable and friendly, adding to the great atmosphere of the journey. Our fellow travellers were an outgoing and welcoming bunch too, which made for a wonderful time. I wholeheartedly commend World Expeditions to anyone as a first rate provider of adventure travel - I can't wait for my next opportunity to try another experience (perhaps Kenya at a quiet moment). My sincere thanks to the team.

Svalbard Explorer

Located inside the Arctic Circle, the archipelago of Svalbard is Norway's most northerly settlement and one of the last true European wilderness areas. With pristine mountains, deep fjords, picturesque icebergs and diverse fauna the islands offer nature lovers ample opportunity to revel in the regions natural beauty. Svalbard is home to approximately 2,500 Polar Bears and we hope to encounter a good number of them during our trip. Our goal on this voyage is to explore the eastern and least-visited sections of Svalbard. Hiking in the tundra, zodiac cruising in search of Walrus haulouts and looking for Polar Bear are just some of the activities which will fill our days in Svalbard. The regions large colonies of sea birds including Ivory gulls, auks and puffins. Throughout our expedition our floating base provides a level of comfort and elegance rarely found on ships of a comparable size.
