Morocco’s superb blend of culture, natural beauty and infrastructure make it an ideal place to explore by bike and the opportunities are both physically exhilarating and culturally infused. We begin in Marrakesh, enjoying the 1000 year-old ochre-colored city with fascinations at every turn, the old Medina and a blend of cultures. Then it’s off to the highest mountain range in North Africa to tackle the rugged, prehistoric, flat-topped peaks that are still used by the nomadic Berbers. From Ouirgane we bike up the beautiful valley of Asni to the mosque of Tinmal, followed by some free wheeling down to the southern side of the High Atlas to Ouled Behril. Our cycle journey then reveals views across the Anti Atlas ranges with beautiful scenic villages on mountain tops that are flanked by terraced fields with almond trees. Continuing on to the coastal city of Agadir we ascend a winding mountain road that twists through palm trees, limestone gorges, fresh water ravines and verdant tree-clad hills to Imouzzer. An exciting final day sees us descend a narrow gorge to the idyllic Paradise Valley, where we transfer to Agadir and onward to Marrakesh by road.
