Andes Adventure

I had an amazing trip! A once in a lifetime experience, and memories I will cherish forever ... the entire experience from booking to trekking was exceptional, I couldn't expect higher standards.

Salcantay Trek and Machu Picchu

In the local Quechuan language, Salcantay translates to 'wild' and that is a fairly fitting description of this superb adventure. With growing pressure on Inca Trail permits and for an exciting option to walk in the Inca Trail Sanctuary without the crowds, our Salcantay trek is emerging quickly as a popular new opportunity. Not only will you be utterly inspired by the dramatic peaks of Salcantay and Humantay but the exhilaration of crossing the Salcantay Pass at 4,640 (only 440m higher than the highest point on the Inca Trail) and the contrasting high alpine and low cloud forest scenery will weave their magic as lasting impressions. Along the route we pass the ruins at Llactapata which were discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1912 , an impressive complex most of which remain covered in the forest. Views across valley to the back side of Machu Picchu provide a new perspective and to where our journey continues to end this inspiring adventure.
