The dense forests of Cyprus’ largest mountain range, the Troodos Mountains, is a natural attraction for most walkers. Surrounding the Troodos massif, which reaches a height of 1952m, are some of the islands most tranquil and charming villages, many filled with traditional architecture and lined with cobbled stone streets.
The island also has a rich history and many fine examples of Byzantine art have survived on the island. The painted churches with their colourful frescoes, ten of which have been put on the UNESCO World Heritage List, are a must see.
