Great Wall Trek

I so appreciated to spend those days close to the Wall and not just to “fly in” for one day. This enables me to get a bit of a “feel” for the country. To be with the Chinese crew also was a privilege I won’t forget. Our tour guide gave us valuable insights. I am thankful that I could be part of this challenge, it was worth it.

Charity Challenge FAQs

Nepal trekkersCharity Challenge FAQ information sheet

Since 1975 World Expeditions has gained an unparalleled reputation for operating high quality adventures to remote destinations. Owning our own operations in many of our bases ensures we can guarantee the quality we offer allowing for a safe and enjoyable experience.

Our brochures provide a myriad of ideas to help get you started with possible trip ideas. You will be allocated an experienced consultant who will discuss your needs at length and help you to refine your trip to suit your group's needs exactly as required, ensuring you make the most out of your time away.

How do I begin?

Simple. Call our dedicated Groups department to speak with an experienced trip planner to discuss the exact needs for your group. This free consultation is an important stage of the whole trip planning process and is the perfect opportunity to outline your preferred style of travel, destinations, desired departure dates, group requirements, and budgets as well as ask any questions you may have to ensure the smooth running of your programme. On conclusion of our discussions we will provide a free quote.

When should I begin organising?

As soon as you’ve decided you want to travel – call us! Organising a challenge can take over a year to recruit as participants may need to raise funds, get their fitness prepared or already have other trips planned for that year, however we have assisted many groups in much shorter time. If you leave it too close we may not be able to secure all your travel arrangements such as permits on the Inca Trail, train berths in India, internal flights in Nepal. A year in advance of your desired departure month is a nice average as flights also become available around this time.

After I’ve finalised an itinerary what else will I need to do?

Not much really. All you need to do is get enough people to travel, we’ll do the rest. As part of your trip cost we also assist you with competitive group flight quotes, all other required documentation from trip notes to pre-departure information as well as medical forms, booking forms, risk assessments and evacuation procedure documents. We’ve drawn on our years of experience to ensure that all travellers are suitable for the adventure challenge ahead.

I’ve not done this before. Can you assist with marketing ideas?

Of course! We’ve had many years of experience seeing what has and has not worked for other challenges we’ve been involved with. We’d be happy to give you marketing ideas. Most importantly you must get the product right for your target audience and we’ll happily discuss where to go, how long to go for and what activity level would be right for your participants.

Can you assist with trip briefings?

At your request we are happy to organise an evening of information, and inspiration, to help you answer questions as well as outline the amazing adventure ahead. Trip briefing evenings are the ideal way to calm nervous travellers as well as attract extra participants.

As the group organiser can I travel for free?

Yes. Providing your group size meets the agreed minimum group number we usually include 1 free of charge (FOC) place for a representative. Should you require more FOC places please advise us during initial consultation.

How do you minimise the risk to assist the group’s safety?

The safety and well-being of our clients is our first priority. Whilst acknowledging that there are inherent risks in all overseas travel that can never be totally eliminated, we endeavour to minimise any risks or dangers that have the potential to lead to any more than a reasonable level of physical or emotional distress for our clients, staff and partners. We aim to do this by:

- ensuring the chosen itinerary is appropriate for your group
- our leaders are all first aid trained, carry a comprehensive first-aid kit and are aware of emergency evacuation procedures
- travel insurance is compulsory for all travellers (we can assist with this)
- complete risk assessment provided prior to travel
- mobile phone or satellite phone communication available on all trips
- provide access to our company medical advisor prior to trip departure to ensure all travellers are suitable for the challenge ahead
