This morning you will meet your guide and transfer to the airport for the flight to Dalanzadgad, the centre of the South Gobi province. The flight takes approximately one and a half hours, and on arrival we will be met by our local driver and transferred to a ger camp for lunch.
In the afternoon we drive to the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park. The park lies on the northern edge of the Gobi desert, and at nearly 27,000 square kilometres is the largest national park in Mongolia. Our destination is the Flaming red cliffs at Bayanzag. This area is famous as the American explorer and naturalist, Roy Chapman Andrews, led a series of dinosaur expeditions here in the 1920s. The dinosaur skeletons discovered during his expeditions are now kept in the Natural History Museum of America.
Late this afternoon we head back to camp for dinner and our first overnight experience in a ger.
