Every year, the Serengeti hosts the largest terrestrial mammal migration in the world. The numbers are simply mind-boggling: 1.7 million wildebeest, 250,000 zebra, 440,000 Thompson gazelle; literally millions of animals, seeking the best pastures for grazing, and plenty of meat-eating opportunists looking to make a real killing!
Even if the timing of your visit is out of sync with this great migration, you will still find a plethora of herbivores and predators eager to cavort in front of your telephoto lens. On every horizon lurks the promise of an unexpected and totally wild encounter! For the next two days we enjoy game drives through the endless plains of the Serengeti and camping within the park. We explore the different vegetation and habitats of the Serengeti ecosystem, following the times of day when wildlife is most active. At any time of the year, however, game viewing in the Serengeti is exciting and the experience is unique. Camping adds another dimension to the adventure and allows us to be right there in the bush at grass roots level.
