Today features morning and afternoon game drives in the conservancy and a visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary. On our game drives today we endeavour to encounter the Big Five – lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo – but a key highlight will be the marvellous Chimpanzee Sanctuary. This was set up in 1993 to provide a lifelong refuge for orphaned and abused chimpanzees rescued from West and Central Africa. Sharing approximately 98% of our own genetic blueprint, they are curious, social and intelligent creatures – a delight to quietly observe in the vast, natural enclosure that ensures their protection. One of only four private game reserves in Kenya, Ol Pejeta Conservancy excels in the provision of privileged seclusion and private game viewing. Thanks to its private status it also allows such unforgettable pleasures as the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary. There are also optional night game drives and guided bush walks on offer. All meals and overnight at Sweetwaters Tented Camp.
